Dochebi XR Performance

Video

Summary

A live XR performance rooted in the Dochebi (goblin) myth from Jeju's Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 2 "Yeongam-nori." The Dochebi is a mythological figure unique to Jeju Island — the only region in Korea where this distinct goblin tradition has been preserved and transmitted. Goblin mythology resonates across Asia: Japan has the Oni, China the Yaksha, and similar figures appear throughout Southeast Asian folklore. This shared cultural familiarity allows Asian audiences to intuitively connect with the Dochebi narrative, while its Jeju-exclusive origin provides a distinctive cultural IP that stands apart from generic goblin stories. The production integrates hologram, projection mapping, AR, and LED technologies with traditional Korean percussion, dance, and narrative performance. Available in three modular tour formats — 15-minute (event), 30-minute (festival), and 60-minute (theatre) — with lightweight equipment designed for airline baggage specifications.
