Autumn, 841 AD. Jang Bogo — the most powerful maritime lord of the Silla Kingdom — is betrayed by the royal court and loses everything. Only six men and a single ship remain.
With nowhere to return, he sails east, guided by a faded coastline on a map left behind by the woman he loved.
52 days across the Pacific. Storms. Starvation. Despair. And then — the morning a snow-capped mountain range rises from the sea.
Jang Bogo becomes the first known Asian to reach North America — 650 years before Columbus. He befriends a young Native warrior named Cloud Foot, encounters a Tamna diver named Jade, and marries the beautiful Native woman Dawn Star. Together they plant the seed of two worlds in a son named Jang Hae.
History recorded his death in 841. But the sea remembers.
