Set in the far future, a band of imperial human mercenaries, indentured to the galactic empire that conquered Earth, land on a mysterious, foggy planet where they are tasked to get rid of “monsters,” also referred to as “the white ones,” who seem to be alien invaders that do not toe the imperial line. Among the colonial mercenaries is “the young woman” who falls in love with “the young man,” who is killed in their first battle upon landing on the planet. She yearns to earn her freedom and go home but faces with endless struggles.
