Theatrical animated feature · medical drama, suspense · Korea–US–Japan co-production
Osamu Tezuka’s unlicensed genius surgeon, from the landmark manga Black Jack (serialized 1973–83), comes to the big screen as a feature film.
A scar across his face, two-tone hair, a black coat. Black Jack travels anywhere in the world to perform surgeries no one else can, and charges fees no patient can reasonably pay, yet no one knows what the money is for or how he chooses his cases. At his side is Pinoko, the assistant he built with his own hands. In a world where life can be bought and sold, the feature follows one doctor deciding whom to save, and why.
The original’s questions about medicine, money and the ethics of life are reframed for today’s medical and technological landscape. Co-developed by GONZO (Japan), Moon Bandits (US/Singapore) and Movie Ball (Korea), which brings data-driven IP matching, co-development and the financing structure.
