Summary
Naeul lands the lead in the famous movie director Hee-jae’s new film, only for an anonymous post by “Cherry” to accuse her of vicious elementary-school bullying. Pressured by her agency to come clean, Naeul recounts the year her parents divorced and she entered a new sixth-grade class, where a girl with a cherry hair charm relentlessly tormented her. When the beautiful, unyielding Si-woo transfers in, Naeul finds her first ally. After school, Naeul is cared for by Han-ju, Siwoo’s mother, who protects the girls with a fierceness Naeul has never received from her mother. Han-ju claims she fled a country where a girl’s pinky is severed when she turns eight, to save her daughter—an origin story that becomes Naeul’s model of courage.
