Summary
"My Buddy Is a Gumiho" is a short-form fantasy romance about an imugi and a nine-tailed fox who have endured a thousand years side by side (15 episodes scripted). Imuk, a serpent spirit, waits a millennium for the yeouiju — the dragon orb that will finally make him a dragon. But as it descends, Miho, a gumiho passing along the shore, mistakes it for a delicious marble and swallows it whole. The orb settles in her chest, and from that day Imuk cannot survive unless he stays near her. A thousand years later, when the orb finally emerges from her body, he will have his chance to become a dragon — at the cost of losing her.
In the present, the two work as instructors at a freediving center, where the "buddy" system — two divers entrusting each other with their lives underwater — becomes the metaphor for what they are to each other. Then Sayun, a red imugi who feeds on human despair and rage, begins circling Miho and the orb she carries, forcing Imuk to face what he has truly been waiting
