Summary
Pact with the Black Witch is a gothic fantasy mystery centered on Princess Marianne, a child born from a forbidden bargain with a witch. Unable to have children, Empress Kashalina promises to give one of her future children to the witch in exchange for two heirs, but breaks the pact after the twins Marianne and Cunorian are born. In retaliation, the witch places an unusual curse on Marianne: she will become exceptionally beautiful and intelligent, yet one day before adulthood she will seek out the witch herself.
